MPH Program Requirements

The MPH program is a 42 semester hour degree program, not including prerequisites that may be required before full admittance to the program. The MPH program offers concentration in five areas of study: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Systems and Policy, and Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Concentration curriculum 

All students must complete 12 credit hours of required courses for their selected concentration; for complete listing of required Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Systems and Policy, and Social and Behavioral Science concentration courses, please see the 2017 MPH Program Requirements.

electives 

All students must complete six (6) credit hours of elective courses; for a complete list of elective courses, please see the 2017 MPH Program Requirements.

practicum 

All students must complete a 240 practicum experience for three (3) credit hours (PUBH 7985).

master's project or thesis 

All students must complete three (3) credit hours of either a Master's Project (PUBH 7992) or Master's Thesis (PUBH 7996).

comprehensive examination

All students must successfully pass an oral examination given at the time of the Master's Project or Master's Thesis defense.
