A key part of our mission within the School of Public Health is to translate research
discoveries that can benefit our community. With a primary focus on conducting research
of relevance to the needs of our local community, we seek to develop and translate
evidence-based, sustainable approaches to health interventions, health services and
health policy. As an urban-serving university our research will focus on issues of
health equity related to social and environmental justice that can reduce disparities
in health outcomes.
Our research activities will be further enhanced by merging the experience of the
Center for Community Health with the additional expertise of our public health faculty.
In addition to renewed associations with campus and community partners, we strive
to significantly impact local, state, and national public health priorities.
