Whatever it takes to support you

At the UofM, we believe that nothing should get in the way of our students reaching their dreams. That's why we offer unique Student Success Programs (SSP). These programs are specially designed for students who are first-generation and/or low-income and/or have a disability. By tapping into these resources, you can make your college years go a lot smoother — from taking a load off loan debts, to receiving encouragement to stay focused to forming strategies to get your degree in a timely manner. We will help you get that diploma in hand, as planned, and with as few roadblocks as possible.

three WAYS TO GET THE SUPPORT YOU DESERVE:

  • TRiO Classic Program - Open to eligible* students pursuing all majors. This federally-funded program provides free academic, career, financial, personal, and social support to assist participants in adjusting to the rigors of college life, with the overall goal of graduating with a baccalaureate degree.
  • TRiO STEM Program - This federally-funded program provides the same support as the TRIO Classic program for eligible* students majoring in programs related to science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
  • First Scholars® Program - funded by a grant from the Suder Foundation, this 4-year program provides support to eligible, entering first-time, full-time freshmen who commit to living on campus and fully participating in the program. First Scholars® receive a $5,000 scholarship, renewable for up to three years.
