Tiger Leadership Institute

The Tiger Leadership Institute is an eight-week training opportunity for future campus leaders. This leadership experience teaches participants about a variety of topics that will prepare them for expanding responsibilities as active and engaged college students. The Fall 2011 session will begin with the kick-offs in the University Center on Tuesday, September 27th (Level I- First Cohort and Level III) and on Wednesday, September 28th (Level I- Second Cohort and Level II). The session will end with a shared graduation ceremony on Friday, December 2nd at 12:30 pm in the University Center.


Level I program includes (freshmen only):

  • Personal leadership values
  • Emerging views of leadership
  • Understanding yourself and others
  • Communication
  • Self management
  • Critical thinking
  • Involvement planning


Level II program
includes (sophomores and above):

  • Personal values and leadership
  • Leadership practices inventory
  • Setting organizational goals
  • Leadership theory and application
  • Team development
  • Power and authority
  • Managing conflict and change


Level III program includes (Level II grads only):

  • Applying leadership concepts after graduation
  • Methods for engaging in positive social change
  • Professional team environments
  • Continued leadership
  • Identity development
