Division of City & Regional Planning
Mission:
The Planning Program and its research unit, the Regional Economic Development Center
(REDC), stand at the very heart of the University's unique urban mission and specifically
respond to the University's goals for serving the metropolitan community of Memphis,
its region, Tennessee, the nation and world.
The Planning Program offers the Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) degree.
The MCRP is a professional degree program whose curriculum, research and outreach
through REDC, and service activities are designed to advance knowledge about the betterment
of urban regions.
The research activities of the faculty are carried out through REDC. The research
agenda is designed for both disciplinary and policy research to insure continued accountability
for faculty maturation and the delivery of contemporaneous knowledge to students.
Outreach activities provide applied research in serving the urban community's institutions
