ACT Residual

The ACT Residual (ACT R) test is a way of completing one of the admissions requirements for perspective University of Memphis students.  Unlike the ACT National test, the ACT Residual scores are only valid at the University of Memphis, and examinees will not receive score reports.  Prospective students should apply for admissions to the University first and receive approval to take the ACT residual by an admissions counselor.  Then the examinee needs to call or email the Testing Center to schedule for the next test date at 901-678-2428 or proctoredtests@memphis.edu .

The testing appointment is 4 hours long, and testing includes four multiple choice sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning.  More information can by found at http://www.act.org/aap/infosys/residual.html.

The cost is $50.00, which is to be paid online through the provided link below.

Examinees must arrive 15 minutes before the starting time for the test with these items:

  • the printed fee payment receipt
  • a valid government issued photo ID with a picture and signature(driver’s license, state-issued photo ID, military ID or passport)
  • acceptable calculator
  • two #2 pencils

No personal items will be allowed in the testing room.  Secure lockers are provided for the examinee’s convenience.
