The ACT Residual (ACT R) test is a way of completing one of the admissions requirements for perspective
University of Memphis students. Unlike the ACT National test, the ACT Residual scores
are only valid at the University of Memphis, and examinees will not receive score
reports. Prospective students should apply for admissions to the University first
and receive approval to take the ACT residual by an admissions counselor. Then the
examinee needs to call or email the Testing Center to schedule for the next test date
at 901-678-2428 or proctoredtests@memphis.edu .
The testing appointment is 4 hours long, and testing includes four multiple choice
sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning. More information can by

The cost is $50.00, which is to be paid online through the provided link below.
Examinees must arrive 15 minutes before the starting time for the test with these
items:
- the printed fee payment receipt
- a valid government issued photo ID with a picture and signature(driver’s license,
state-issued photo ID, military ID or passport)
- acceptable calculator
- two #2 pencils
No personal items will be allowed in the testing room. Secure lockers are provided
for the examinee’s convenience.

Note: There is a 60 day wait period for retaking the ACT Residual. If the examinee
has taken the ACT Residual at another location, then the 60 day wait period must be
completed prior to taking the ACT Residual at the University of Memphis.
