ACT Residual

The ACT Residual (ACT R) is a way of completing one of the admissions requirements for perspective University of Memphis students.  Unlike the ACT National exam, the ACT Residual scores are only valid at the University of Memphis and examinees will not receive score reports.  Prospective students should apply for admissions to the University first and receive approval to take the ACT residual by an admissions counselor. 

The ACT Residual exam is 4 hours long and testing consists of four multiple choice sections: English, Math, Reading, and Science Reasoning.  More information can by found at by visiting

Registration Information

  • Cost: $50.00 (payable by credit/debit card through our secure online payment system). 

  • Examinees must arrive 15 minutes before the starting time for the test with these items.

  • No personal items will be allowed in the testing room.  Secure lockers will be provided 
    for your convenience.

What to Bring

  • Printed fee payment receipt

  • Valid government issued photo ID with a picture and signature(driver's license, state-issued photo ID, military ID or passport)

  • Acceptable calculator

  • Two #2 pencils
