John received his MFA from The Pennsylvania State University in 1975. He serves as Lighting and Sound Director and Production Manager for the department.

Teaching specialties are in the areas of lighting design, sound design, computer graphics, and theatre management. Professional design credits include: Florida Stage; The Penn State Festival Theatre; the National Theatre Company in Perth, Australia; Arkansas Repertory Theatre; Playhouse on the Square; and Theatre Memphis.
