John received his MFA from the University of Memphis in 1997. He joined the U of M faculty in 2002 and specializes in teaching Introduction to Theatre. His emphasis in the MFA program at the University was in Directing and he has directed The Twilight of the Golds for the Little Theatre at Theatre Memphis, Murder on the Nile for Germantown Community Theatre, and has spent several summers working for the University of Findlay Summer Stock.

When not teaching or directing, John also enjoys performing on stage.
