Mathematics/Algebra DSPM 0700. Basic Mathematics. (3). (ASDS) (R&DS)(TRAC 0720). Real numbers and number operations, ratio and proportion, percent, measurement, geometry,
variables, equations, and applications. Three lecture hours per week. Credit earned
will not apply toward degree credit.
DSPM 0800. Elementary Algebra. (3). (MATH 1000, ASDS 0820) (R&DS)(TRAC 0820). Real numbers, their properties, variables, solving equations, polynomials, factoring,
introduce algebraic fractions, linear equations, systems of linear equations, graphing
linear equations in two variables, inequalities, radicals, quadratic equations, and
applications. Three lecture hours per week. Credit earned will not apply toward degree
credit.
DSPM 0850. Intermediate Algebra. (3). (MATH 1100, ASDS 0821) (R&DS)(TRAC 0821). First and second degree equations, linear equations in two variables, polynomials,
rational expressions, exponents and radicals, systems of equations, graphing linear
equations, inequalities, and applications. Three lecture hours per week. Credit earned

Reading DSPR 0700. Critical Reading I. (3). (ASDS) (R&DS)(TRAC 0740). Essential reading skills needed as foundation for critical reading skills; emphasizes
word attack skills, general vocabulary development, comprehension, and increased reading
rate. Three lecture hours per week. Credit earned will not apply toward degree credit.
DSPR 0800. Critical Reading II. (3). (ELED 1201, CIED 1201, ASDS 0840) (R&DS)(TRAC
0840). Critical reading skills prerequisite for comprehension of college texts; emphasizes
increased development of general vocabulary as well as technical and specialized vocabularies.
Comprehension with special attention directed toward critical reading skills and improvement
of reading flexibility and reading rate. Three lecture hours per week. Credit earned
will not apply toward degree credit. Study Skills/Learning Strategies DSPS 0800. Developmental Study Skills. (3). (ASDS) (R&DS)(TRAC 0830). Necessary reasoning and study skills for college level work; emphasizes critical
thinking skills and efficient study techniques. Three lecture hours per week. Credit
earned will not apply toward degree credit.
Writing DSPW 0700. Basic Composition. (3). (ASDS) (R&DS)(TRAC 0710). Practice in developing paragraphs and compositions; extensive work on basic competencies
in grammar, punctuation, and mechanics through numerous writing assignments. Three
lecture hours per week. Credit earned will not apply toward degree credit.
DSPW 0800. Developmental Composition. (3). (ENGL1100, ASDS 0810) (R&DS)(TRAC 0810). Expository writing; emphasis on focus, development, organization, and revision of
compositions; practice with grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and mechanics.
