TRiO STEM

In September 2010, the University of Memphis was awarded a second TRiO program specifically for 120 eligible students who are enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) majors at the U of M.  TRiO STEM participants must meet the eligibility standards during their university years.

The program is very competitive with a limited number of openings each year to maintain 120 participants. The STEM Program is housed in 405 Mitchell Hall. Mr. Manuel Thompson is the Project Coordinator for the TRiO STEM project.

Applications to apply for the program are available in the Student Success Program offices or on the SSP website.

Eligibility

To participate in the TRiO STEM program, you must be first admitted and/or enrolled at The University of Memphis and majoring in a STEM field. In addition, you must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident and meet at least one of the following criteria:

• First Generation Student: Neither of your parents have a bachelor's degree.
• Low Income: If you receive a Pell Grant, you MAY qualify in this category.
• A Student with a disability: You must be registered with Student Disability Services.

If you meet these criteria, you may be eligible for participation in the Student Success Program. Please pick up an application from the SSP front desk at 405 Mitchell Hall or download, complete, and return an application from the Downloadable Forms section of this website.
