The SHRM Learning System is for participants seeking continuing professional development and a broad overview of the field as well as for those preparing to take the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification examinations administered by the HR Certification Institute.
The SHRM Learning System is the only PHR and SPHR certification preparation program that consistently beats the national pass rate. It features content that matches the HRCI body of knowledge, including updated legislation. Materials include more than 1,600 questions that allow you to test your knowledge and be more prepared for the certification exam as well as a 100-question posttest that mirrors the HRCI certification exam so you can hone your test-taking skills. You will also work interactive case studies focused on real-life situations faced by HR professionals.
The SHRM Learning System is an instructor-led program that offers experienced human resources professionals an opportunity to review the components of a complete human resources program. The course of study is not a prerequisite for the PHR or SPHR exam. Rather, it is a review of the body of knowledge which many individuals use in studying for the exam.
This course provides 35 recertification hours for those already holding PHR or SPHR certification. However, you cannot use the course for recertification if you have taken the course previously, and you are responsible for submitting your accounting of your recertification hours.
To earn CEUs or recertification, you must attend at least four of the six class sessions and complete other requirements as set forth by the facilitators.

Cost:
$1075 for SHRM members; $1175 for non-members. All course materials are included in the registration fee. 4.0 CEUs are awarded by The U of M in cooperation with SHRM. Cost does not include the HR Certification Institute exam fee.

Kathy Gibbs, M.Ed, M.S., N.C.C., is the Director of Student Academic Support Services at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Gibbs has worked in the area of standardized test taking and preparation
for more than 20 years.
All sessions held on the campus of the University of Memphis. If you're coming from out of town, you may wish to stay at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn, just across the street from the classroom building.
This course is offered by Professional & Continuing Education at the University of Memphis in conjunction with Memphis chapter of The Society for Human Resource Management.

Written notification of withdrawals must be received in our office 4:30 pm by Friday, February 5, 2010. No refunds will be given after that date, and there are no refunds for materials. All refunds are subject to a $25 fee.
The certification offered by HRCI is intended for professionals currently working in the human resource field. To apply for either the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), candidates must have two (2) years of HR exempt-level experience. The HR Certification Institute examination will be given in Memphis during May & June. Participation in this course does not guarantee successful HRCI test results.
