When you log into UMdrive, you will notice that you have a folder called public. Public is a special folder that is set up when your account is created, and by default it is shared in such a way that any web visitor, whether off campus or on, can see and read its contents. This feature provides a handy way to share files with others. To access someone's public folder, do the following:
If you receive the message:
That directory does not exist, or you may not read it.
Either the person has not created his or her UMdrive account, or he/she has changed the permissions of or deleted his or her public folder.
Off-campus visitors--people who do not have a PostOffice account--can access a public folder by entering the following URL in a web browser:
http://umdrive.memphis.edu/username/public
Where username is the PostOffice username of the owner of the public folder.
