Clickers: Personal Response Systems

What are Clickers? Clickers, also known as classroom response systems are remote type devices which students can use to respond to questions presented during a class session. The students’ answers are received by the instructor’s computer, processed by the pre-installed software, and results are projected to the entire class.

TURNING TECHNOLOGIES PERSONAL RESPONSE SYSTEMS

Founded in 2002, Turning Technologies began with a commitment to higher education that is driven by our belief in the pedagogical benefits of student response. Today, more than six million ResponseCard student clickers have been delivered worldwide and are available in more than 100 countries. The company remains the industry leader in higher education with more than 2,300 U.S. colleges and universities using TurningPoint student response solutions.

Classroom Use:

TurningPoint is polling software used to create questions for and accept input from TurningTechnologies's ResponseCard clickers. The software integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Office's PowerPoint. Using TurningPoint, instructors can generate interactive slides that are interspersed with the rest of the informational slides in their PowerPoint presentations. TurningPoint presentations help instructors assess student understanding of lecture concepts and topics, create large or small scale polling opportunities (identifiable or anonymous), and even take attendance.

TurningPoint slides can be customized with charts, graphs, countdown timers, and correct answer indicators. Points can be awarded for participation or correct responses and then uploaded into Desire2Learn Grade Center. Session data can be extracted into a variety of reports that are generated in either Excel or Word formats.
