U of M Student Affairs Vice President Rosie Bingham served as duckmaster at The Peabody
Hotel last month during the Southeastern Chief Student Affairs Officers meeting. Thirty-five
student affairs administrators from around the country attended the conference, held
on the U of M campus. The marching of the ducks dates to 1933; live baby alligators
and turtles are rumored to have graced the hotel’s fountain in the 1920s. The marching
of the ducks has been featured on Oprah, The Tonight Show and Sesame Street. Oprah Winfrey, Larry King and Joan Collins have also served as honorary duckmasters.
