A variety of services are available to support students as they move through their
academic programs. These range from student advising to counseling and career placement.
Academic advisors can be invaluable to students as they navigate their way through
the various developmental transitions that occur during the college years. The annual
Discover Your Major Day is a great way for students to assess the various majors available
through the University of Memphis.
The Adult and Commuter Student Services Office fosters an atmosphere where students
who are juggling college along with work and family responsibilities can gather and
interact with other adult and commuter students.
The Career Counseling Center assists with individualized career exploration and planning.
Career assessment tests are also administered here. Additionally, the University of
Memphis offers career placement services for prospective graduates through the Office
of Career and Employment Services.
Student Success Programs (SSP) is a federally funded TRIO Program through the U.S.
Department of Education. It provides free academic, career, financial, personal, social
and technological assistance and support to eligible college students. The program
helps eligible participants adjust to college life, achieve academic success, graduate
and move on to become contributing members of society. The Student Success Programs
office at the University of Memphis provides students with the support and skills
needed to succeed in college and complete a degree program. Staff members also direct
students to appropriate campus resources. The office provides a friendly place for
students to visit, get academic assistance, study or just relax. Study areas, a tutoring
center, and a computer lab are available.
The University of Memphis helps students be successful not only in the classroom but
beyond graduation as well.
