WebDev Meeting Minutes for October 28, 2003

Agenda:

We will have our regular WebDev meeting today (4^th Tuesday of month) at 1:00 in the Smith 110 classroom. The agenda items include:

• Web browsers -- discussion on adopting the "new" standards
• Moving web page locations -- discussion on maintaining links
• XSLT training plans -- content management template design
• Campus map web site project (Conlee)
• Server Server Matrix project (Matesich)

Web browsers -- discussion on adopting the "new" standards

Issues discussed regarding current Netscape Suite 4.x version vs. newer browser versions used. Also discussion of applications we use at U of M; how are they compatible with new or older browsers. Announcing: support for newer browsers, LSP's involvement, how to handle this, etc...

Moving web page locations -- discussion on maintaining links

Identifying issues of web sites/pages that move or become removed / deleted from our memphis.edu domain and maintaining them.

XSLT training plans -- content management template design

Plans for XSLT in-house training via Joe Matesich. Outside resources, New Horizons for example, are quite limited with instructional classes. Cost is free as opposed to outside instruction as well. Other training offers: SQL and db.NET given by New Horizons. If interested, contact Joann Gikas with the Training Center.
