Where Your Future Begins

The Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management at the University of Memphis, created and named for the founder of Holiday Inns, has positioned itself as a prominent program providing a contemporary hospitality education, with an emphasis on lodging and resort operations.  Students learn what it takes to effectively run a successful hospitality business through a mix of class work, applied industry experiences and a required internship in lodging & hospitality operations.  Management and leadership skills are delivered through course work focusing on asset management, facility development, human resources, resort management, food & beverage cost controls and revenue management.  Housed in a full-service, award winning Holiday Inn hotel and conference center, students see first hand service standards, business challenges and real-time operations.

Graduates in Hospitality and Resort Management receive the B.B.A. degree from the AACSB accredited Fogelman College of Business & Economics which provides a traditional business education with emphasis on communication, critical thinking, creativity and emotional control to develop student self confidence.  Our program provides an education designed to prepare students for a 21st century career in a field that is one of the largest employers in the world. Field experience give students opportunities to learn while working in a variety of settings such as the InterContinental Hotels Group properties, Hilton Worldwide Hotels, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the Peabody Hotel Group, MGM Mirage, Harrah’s Entertainment, plus as well as a myriad of other hotel, resort, restaurant and tourism businesses. Career opportunities abound in this fast growing field and Kemmons Wilson School graduates will be prepared to excel in this dynamic and ever changing industry.
