Anyone can find themselves facing foreclosure when life takes a turn. Now there is important foreclosure-related news.

The Independent Foreclosure Review is a free program monitored by government regulators. It is available to borrowers who were involved in any foreclosure actions in 2009 or 2010, and whose mortgage was serviced by a participating mortgage servicer.

Eligible borrowers can request a mortgage file review by a neutral party to see if errors occurred during their foreclosure process. The review is free and if an error is found, borrowers may be eligible for compensation.

The deadline for the independent review is Dec. 31st, so eligible candidates should call The Homeowners Preservation Foundation.
