Jazz In June Radiothon

Summer Radiothon Starting On June 26th

For Release: June 14, 2016
For more information, contact: Malvin Massey (901) 678-3176

Jazz In JuneThe Jazz In June Radiothon is coming up. It's our classic summertime fundraiser where WUMR asks for help from "The Jazz Lover Family" to keep the staff paid, the equipment state of the art, and to be sure that the station presents the best quality sound of jazz that is humanly possible.

U92 starts the week of Jazz in June on Sunday, June 26th, 2016 at 10 a.m. on-the-air. The Jazz In June Radiothon will run through the entire week and it ends on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016.

In addition, WUMR will kick off the Radiothon with a concert at the New Daisy Theatre. The show will be Sunday, June 26th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and they are available by clicking this link.

The guest musicians are Gary Goin and Pat Register, local recording artists with their latest release titled Dual Drive "The Memphis Project." Guest vocalist for the concert is Kevin Whalum.

Gary Goin is the leader of the house band for the Memphis Grizzlies that performs during games. He is also guitarist for Kirk Whalum's band and an in-demand studio guitarist.

Pat Register is a local saxophonist who has recorded several albums of his own, as well as being a founding member of the group VooDoo Village.

We are looking forward to a week of great music, fun, laughs, guests, and gifts to help U92 keep jazz alive and well. Keep listening, and get ready to make a pledge of support starting Sunday, June 26th.
