"Warmth of Other Suns" Lecture In Time For Black History Month

Marcus CenterThe Marcus W. Orr Center for the Humanities, at the University of Memphis, is presenting Ms. Isabel Wilkerson, author of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration, as she delivers the Belle McWilliams Lecture in American History.

The event takes place on Thursday, February 7th, 2013 in the Rose Theatre, on-campus, with a reception at 6 p.m. and the lecture to begin at 6:30 p.m. A book signing will follow.

Ms. Wilkerson's book describes one of the vital stories of modern history: the "Great Migration" of African-Americans from the rural South to the urban North. The lecture is free and open to the public and convenient parking is available.
