Bill Steffens was exposed to music from an era gone by at an early age.  His father was born during the Depression and enjoyed listening to musicians such as Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong, Peggy Lee and Tommy Dorsey.  As an adult, Bill’s passion for jazz developed further and drew him to WUMR.  He was always told that he had a voice for radio and was excited about the prospect of being able to share his love of jazz with other Memphians.

Steffens has played jazz for listeners of WUMR every Thursday evening for the last five years from 3 to 7 p.m.
