I was first drawn to the Graduate School at the University of Memphis by the strong
academic and clinical program in Audiology. The personal attention and nurturing I
received as a developing professional at the U of M helped me to discern my calling
as an Audiologist and launched me into a successful career helping people who have
hearing loss. My degree prepared me to provide hearing health care services in a
variety of medical and educational settings and to later pursue my Doctor of Audiology
degree from the University of Florida.
As a new graduate in the 1980’s, I became a member of what was then the Audiology
and Speech-Language Pathology Alumni Board. Membership offered a great way to stay
in contact with my classmates while providing service to the University. Through my
current activities with the Alumni Board of the School of Communication Sciences and
Disorders (CSD) I have been able to spend time with old friends and to establish new
friendships with other professionals in the community.
