Roger Allan Cleaves uses concepts of abstract figuration to investigate social ideas in contemporary culture through the lens of symbolism, satire, and narrative storytelling. Cleaves is well versed in traditional art processes such as painting, printmaking, and sculpture, but not limited to traditional forms of expression. He also explores new media processes and animation in his pursuit to command the complete scope of the fine arts. Cleaves received his BFA from the University of Memphis and his MFA from the University of Wisconsin.
