The 2018 Join Hands for Change Benefit will be hosted by Memphis radio personality Stan Bell, a native Memphian who has grown into one of Memphis's most energetic radio personalities over his 31-year career. A recipient of the prestigious Marconi Award for Broadcast Excellence, Bell can be heard weekdays from 3 pm 7 pm on V 101.1 and 1070 WDIA.
Bill Hurd and Ensemble, jazz musicians will provide music and accompany student musician performances. Hurd is a nationally renowned jazz saxophonist and recording artist. He has recorded with music legends Maurice White, Kirk Whalum and Isaac Hayes.
The program will follow the late night talk show format popularized by great television entertainers. This format will include students, featured guests, commercials on the work of the Hooks Institute, and entertainment.
Proceeds from our 2018 Join Hands for Change Donor Benefit help fund Hooks Institute programs like the Hooks African American Male Initiative, which focuses on increasing the retention and graduation rates of African American Males Attending the University of Memphis.
