Post-Master's Certificate in School Counseling

Our Post-master's certificate in School Counseling is intended for those individuals who are currently pursuing or have obtained a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, or College Counseling to obtain Tennessee Licensure as a School Counselor.

Certificate Requirements

The Post-master's Certificate in School Counseling requires successful completion of 21-hours of coursework. All courses are required. These include:

COUN 7640 Principles of School Counseling
COUN 7542 Child Counseling, Consultation and Intervention in Schools
COUN 7826 School Counseling to Close Achievement Gap
COUN 7790 Special Problems in Counseling
COUN 7642 Internship in Elementary School Counseling
COUN 7646 Internship in Secondary School Counseling
SPED 7000 Introduction to Exceptional Learners

In addition to all UofM Graduate School deadlines, the Post-master's Certificate program in school counseling has the following deadlines for admission:

  1. Fall: June 15
  2. Spring: November 10
  3. Summer: March 15
