Online MS in Educational Psychology

The online Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Memphis prepares educational leaders for teaching, basic and applied research or other career/professional roles that require an in-depth understanding of human development, learning and cognition, and research and statistics. Designed to meet the needs of professionals and individuals who want/need a graduate degree but cannot attend traditional classes at the university, our online courses will allow you to complete your courses and ultimately earn your Masters degree while accommodating your busy schedules.

Our graduate students come from a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of interests and career goals. While many of our students are teachers or prospective teachers, others are school psychologists, school administrators, military personnel, health professionals, ministers, law enforcement officers, social workers, consultants, and people from the business community. Their undergraduate degrees are as varied as their backgrounds. What is common is that our students all share a commitment to research and apply current educational and psychological research to understand and solve contemporary social and educational problems.

Online MS in Educational Research

Students in the online Master's program of Educational Research complete a core set of Introductory classes that provide a foundation in both quantitative and qualitative design.  Students then choose between additional coursework on (a) quantitative approaches with advanced training in statistical methods, research design, and empirical measurement or (b) qualitative approaches that focus on the the use of the contemporary theories, strategies, research design, data collection and analysis.

Designed to meet the needs of professionals and individuals who want/ need a graduate degree but cannot attend traditional classes at the University, our online courses will allow you to complete your courses and ultimately earn your Master's degree while accommodating your busy schedules.  Our graduate students come from  a variety of backgrounds, with a variety of interests and career goals.  Graduates of our program are strong candidates for research job opportunities, such as senior researchers in institutions of higher education, research hospitals, and public school districts

Admission

Applying for admission involves just a few simple steps. First, a GRE score is required. You should have your scores forwarded directly to the University of Memphis once you've completed the exam. You must complete an application for the specific department either Educational Psychology or Educational Research.  Next, you must complete one for the university, which can be accessed at http://apply.memphis.edu/. Just follow the directions with each form. Also, on the departmental application please add ONLINE at number 19, signature line. We review applications to our program two times a year: April 1 and November 1; make sure that you have submitted all the forms and materials by your desired review date.

Please note: This program is not designed for individuals seeking licensure for K-12 schools or wanting to become counselors.
