December 24 - Campus Update

Dear Campus Community:

I wanted to provide a quick update as we move through the holiday season and into a new year. Since spring, we have made campus decisions in accordance with the most up-to-date scientific data. As The New York Times university COVID-19 database demonstrates, we have been able to manage effectively, containing spread as well as any large campus in Tennessee.

Over the next several weeks, we will provide updates regarding plans for the spring semester. Again, we will use the most recent data regarding Tennessee and local infection rates, testing availability and anticipated availability of vaccines in our decision-making.

Wishing you the best with family and friends for the new year.

December 2 - TN Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

Dear Faculty and Staff:

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) recently released a COVID-19 Vaccination Plan. As Governor Lee’s press release noted, the TDH has developed a preliminary structure for the allocation and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. The plan is available online here. TDH modeled their approach after the CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program Interim Playbook for Jurisdictional Operations, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s Framework for Equitable Allocation of COVID-19 Vaccine, and in consultation with Tennessee’s Unified Command Group and a stakeholder group of more than 28 partner agencies and offices.

As Governor Lee also noted, TDH will ensure implementation of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program through tracking of provider enrollment, mapping of locations of vaccination services, monitoring performance of the Tennessee Immunization Information System and tracking of vaccine ordering and distribution.

I will keep you updated in a timely fashion as new information is received.
