February 26 - Better Days Ahead

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

This has been one of the most difficult years in the history of the University of Memphis and our city. So many of us are struggling with not only managing the stress and challenges of day-to-day life in the midst of a global pandemic, but also the grief of losing friends and family. The recent snow storm and resulting problems with access to water and transportation only served to magnify the obstacles.

We know this year has been particularly difficult for our students. Although you have demonstrated remarkable resilience and persistence during this year, I want to remind you that the faculty and staff are here to support you regardless of the need. Do not hesitate to reach out and ask for assistance. Our advisors, health and counseling personnel are available through telehealth and telecounseling.

There is good news on the horizon. We are anticipating and preparing for a return to significantly more face-to-face classes this summer, much greater social interaction outside of the classroom, dramatically better access to faculty, in-person orientation and a campus environment much more like what we know and love. As for the fall, we are preparing for a return to a fully face-to-face campus, in addition to our traditional online options and UofM Global.

As we look ahead to better days and the opportunity to once again enjoy the many relationships that make our campus special, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask for help if needed over the course of the coming months.

Thank you for your patience, persistence and compassion.

Regards,

Dr. M. David Rudd

February 16 - CRRSA Act Financial Funds Available

Dear Students,

As we shared with you previously, the University anticipated that financial support under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA) for students who meet the eligibility criteria would be available soon. Earlier today, the University of Memphis was notified that funding will be available shortly. We are working to disburse funds to eligible students in an expeditious manner. In the next few days, students eligible to receive this aid will receive a notice with additional details and steps, if any, you need to take.

In the interim, if you have any questions, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 901.678.4825 or submit a TigerHelp Ticket.

February 11 - CRRSA Act Financial Resources

Dear Students;

I hope your spring semester has gotten off to a good start. As we shared with you earlier, the recent Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA) provides additional financial resources to support students who meet established criteria. The University has submitted all required paperwork to have the funds allocated to our University. We have also reviewed the required criteria and established the mechanisms to disburse the funds to eligible students efficiently. We are monitoring our systems and as soon as the funds are realized, we will work expeditiously to distribute the aid.

In the interim, if you have any questions, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 901.678.4825 or submit a TigerHelp Ticket.
