Methodist Grant Establishes U of M Center for Healthcare and Technology

Improvement of patient experiences and outcomes via technology integration is the goal of the new Center for Healthcare and Technology (CHT) at the U of M, a research center made possible by a $750,000 grant from Methodist Healthcare's Urban Child Institute.

The CHT aims to improve the application of technology in healthcare by improving healthcare processes from treatment to payment and by soliciting feedback and involvement from healthcare providers, patients, researchers and technology providers. Solutions for problems addressed by the CHT will have a potential impact on healthcare environments on a local, national and global level.

Sample projects on the horizon for the CHT include examining the design of nursing stations for functionality and efficiency in a highly technological environment and the adaptation of current hand-held electronic devices for strictly medical use.

Tiger Room Wins Pinnacle Decorating Contest

MuralThe employees at Pinnacle Airlines participated in a decorating contest last month to enliven their local corporate education center. Each room's theme was based on a Memphis-area attraction, so of course they included a University of Memphis Tiger room.

The U of M room was festively decorated with a mural of campus, notable alumni portraits, Tiger athletics posters and memorabilia, and a trail of Tiger paw prints. For their efforts, the Tiger room decorating team nabbed first place in the contest.

The University of Memphis congratulates the U of M Tiger room team members for their big win. Go Tigers!
