- A College of Arts & Sciences alumnus has issued a Challenge 2 You! Each new gift from College of Arts & Sciences alumni will be matched by the anonymous donor, up to a total gift of $25,000. - A School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (AuSP) graduate, who wishes to remain anonymous, has issued The AuSP Challenge. The Herff College of Engineering at the University of Memphis will open its doors to the community and to hundreds of middle school, high school, and community college students during its E-Day open house Friday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The event will showcase engineering activities and research being conducted at the College, which is located on Central Avenue near the Zach Curlin intersection. Faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the Herff College will be on hand to answer questions and discuss programs offered at the College.
Groups may take guided tours that include demonstrations of engineering activities ranging from measurement of an EKG to making biodiesel fuel out of vegetable oil. Individuals and small groups may walk through and visit the exhibits and demonstrations at their own pace.
In addition to the tours, students may compete in a variety of competitions designed to build engineering and team skills. The winners will take home cash awards in the form of donations to their schools. Middle and high school teams will compete in such events as harnessing wind power, boat building, designing a kicking device, and constructing the strongest cardboard beam, along with the traditional wall- and bridge-building competitions.

The Herff College of Engineering offers undergraduate programs in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering and in engineering technology. Graduate programs are offered in biomedical engineering (in partnership with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center) and in computer, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering and engineering technology. The College also houses the Ground Water Institute, a center of expertise on ground water research and management. Other research centers include The Center for Advanced Sensors and the Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute.
Kerryann Cook (JD ‘03) is a Partner and the Managing Attorney of McGivney & Kluger, P.C.’s sizeable New York City Asbestos Department, concentrating primarily on toxic torts, products liability, general casualty defense and sports law. Kerryann is a 2003 graduate of Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where she served as the Chief Justice of the Moot Court. Kerryann is admitted to bars of New York State and the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. She is actively involved in the legal community, and co-authored an article entitled Unpaid Interns in Sport: Are They Legal?, which was published in the July 2007 edition of the International Journal of Sport Management. Kerryann also serves as panel counsel to a leading non-profit institution that advocates against discrimination in sport.
Although busy and hundreds of miles away from her law school alma mater, Kerryann stays True Blue through her membership in the Alumni Association and answering questions from current law school students considering a move to the Big Apple.
Basketball Pre-Game Event in Saint Louis
The St. Louis Alumni Club invites all Tiger fans and alumni traveling to the Scottrade Center to watch Memphis vs. Kansas basketball to a pre-game party and pep rally at Bud Light Zone in the Club Level of the arena. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the pep rally starting at 6 p.m. Complimentary food, drinks, and a cash bar will be available. The game tips off at 9 p.m. and you must have a ticket to the game in order to enter the arena and/or Bud Light Zone. Atlanta Alumni Club Reception with President Raines
The Atlanta Alumni Club invites you to a complimentary reception with University President Dr. Shirley C. Raines on Saturday, November 21, 1 p.m. E.T., at Villa Christina at Perimeter Summit. All Atlanta area alumni and fans are encouraged to come out wearing Tiger Blue to greet our University of Memphis President and to cheer on the Memphis football team as we take on Houston. Houston Alumni Club Pre-Game Watch Party
The University of Memphis Alumni Association Houston Alumni Club invites you to a Pre-Game Tailgate at Robertson Stadium on Saturday, November 21 before the Memphis Tigers take on the Houston Cougars. True Blue Bus
Through a generous gift from the Jabie and Helen Hardin Charitable Trust, the Alumni Association and the University of Memphis are able to present the True Blue Bus. The Bus, which has been wrapped and converted through funds in the trust, will be used at many Alumni Association and University Recruitment events, including tailgates and pre-game parties both in Memphis and across the country. 2010 Alumni Association Distinguished Advising Award
Do you know an outstanding undergraduate academic advisor at the University of Memphis? Faculty and professional staff members who advise undergraduate students may be nominated for the Distinguished Advising Award. This award, sponsored by the University of Memphis Alumni Association, was established to recognize excellent advising on our campus. It has been a great benefit to our campus that, over the years, so many faculty and professional advisors have been recognized by students, alumni, peers and supervisors for excellence in advising. UMAR Annual Holiday Luncheon
On Tuesday, December 1 at the U of M Holiday Inn, the University of Memphis Association of Retirees (UMAR) will host its Annual Holiday Luncheon. Check in begins at 10 a.m., followed by an informative program about Student Life, with Dean William Porter from 10:30 – 11:30 am. The lunch program will begin at 12 p.m. and will feature remarks from President Shirley Raines as well as music provided by students from the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Nursing Career Fair
On Monday, November 30, 2009, the Loewenberg School of Nursing and the University of Memphis Nursing Alumni Chapter will be hosting a Career Fair for our nursing students at the Michael D. The Grand Opening Celebration of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law
The Law Alumni Chapter, in collaboration with the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, is hosting the Grand Opening Celebration of the new home of the Law School on Saturday, January 16, 2010. The Grand Opening Gala will take place throughout the entire building and will feature entertainment from the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music and other local legends.
