Avron B. Fogelman Professional Development Center Concludes its Inaugural, Accounting
Careers of Tomorrow Program
For release: November 8, 2013
The Complete Professional Program, sponsored by the Avron B. Fogelman Professional Development Center, has introduced
a new training module, Accounting Careers of Tomorrow (ACT). ACT is designed for
undergraduate accounting majors and graduate students pursuing a MS in accountancy
degree. The new class was developed in partnership with local CPA firm Reynolds, Bone
& Griesbeck (RBG) and took place over the course of three two-hour sessions at the
firm’s East Memphis office. The inaugural ACT program successfully concluded on October
2, 2013 with a networking event hosted by RBG executives.
The first 20 students who enrolled in the program learned about the range of career
options in accounting, discussed ethics and professional development in relation to
the profession, and received introductions to professional accounting associations.
“We are grateful to the leadership of Leslie Bouldin, COO of Reynolds Bone and Griesbeck,
for setting a standard for this innovative professional development program,” stated
Kathy Tuberville, Director for the Avron B. Fogelman Professional Development Center.
“RBG’s focus on student preparation and collaboration with multiple employers in various
career paths has proven to be highly successful and has encouraged other employers
to offer similar, discipline-specific training to other majors. This type of collaboration
will not only make the accounting profession stronger, it helps to build a stronger
community. We highly value employer-driven training that helps our students expand
their academic programming with real-world insight.”
ACT is limited to 20 students each semester. The next session is scheduled for the
spring semester, with classes beginning in January. For information on how you can
