STEM Doctoral Fellowship

The offer includes:

  • A waiver for all tuition/fees
  • $20,000 annual stipend
  • $2,500 for supplemental academic support (conferences, laptops or computer software)
  • Provisions for annual, competitive renewal for up to three additional years
  • A faculty advisor in scholar’s major field of study to support teaching and scholarship interests

In order to be eligible to apply, students must be:

  • A resident of Tennessee
  • Underrepresented in discipline by gender or race
  • STEM doctoral candidate

Fellowship recipients must agree to the following:

  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 in order to be eligible to continue the fellowship.
  • Full-time status

STEM Doctoral Programs Include:

  • Engineering (Electrical, Biomedical, Civil, or Mechanical)
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Earth Science
  • Mathematics
  • Physics

All completed applications with supporting documents (see Documentation Required for Graduate Awards chart) must be submitted to Anna.Grisham@memphis.edu  by August 1, 2019.

The funds for the STEM Doctoral Fellowship Program are made available to the University of Memphis by the State of Tennessee. The purpose of the fellowship is to provide financial assistance to graduate students who are under-represented in their respective STEM disciplines.
