About Rachael L. Ross

Dr. Rachael Ross considers herself a professional Tiger! Before landing here at the University of Memphis, she earned her Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction at LSU and her PhD in Literacy, Language, & Culture at Clemson University. She is passionate about children’s literature and enjoys studying the effects of reading aloud in the classroom. Dr. Ross has prior experience as a classroom teacher in Georgia and Louisiana and has worked in literacy specialist roles at the school and district level here in Shelby County. She loves teaching and hopes to inspire her students to become equitable educators who teach in innovative and responsive ways.  In her free time, Dr. Ross enjoys cheering on her husband, Ryan, as he coaches high school basketball and spending time at home with her sweet pup, Ruby Sue.
