About Dr. Hilliard

LaSheba W. Hilliard is an educator, wife and mother based in the United States. LaSheba has served as an educational consultant, classroom teacher in special education, teacher mentor, SPED Chairperson, 504 Coordinator and served on many educational Leadership committees in the K-12 educational setting. LaSheba also has experience as an adjunct professor in the areas of special education and autism spectrum disorder. 

Currently, LaSheba works as a Assistant Professor of Teaching, Residency Supervisor and Site Coordinator in the Instruction and Curriculum Leadership Department at the University of Memphis. LaSheba research interests include the following:

  • Cultural responsiveness in urban classrooms
  • Evidenced-based instructional practices with mild-moderate disabilities
  • Classroom management strategies
  • Adverse childhood experiences
  • Social-Emotional Learning

LaSheba resides in Cordova, TN, with her husband and three daughters. She is a certified empowerment coach and actively involved in serving the local community through various community service projects.
