- Course Integrated Instruction
The core of the Instruction Program is course-related instruction, in which librarians
work with instructors to teach skills that students need to successfully complete
course assignments and related research. The aim is to teach students information
literacy skills at the point of need. Request instruction for your courses.
- Subject Related Instruction
Introduces a group to resources of a specific discipline. This type of instruction
can be useful for new graduate or Ph.D. students, graduate assistants, organizations,
and students working on group projects. Request subject related instruction.
- Resource Specific Instruction
Provides instruction on a specific tool or library resource. This can be especially
helpful for new and updated online databases. Request resource specific instruction.
- In-Depth Consultation
Individual conferences provide an opportunity to discuss research and information
needs with a reference librarian. These can be especially helpful for major research
projects, theses, and dissertations. Request a consultation online or by calling the Research and Information Services (RIS) Desk: 901-678-2208.
- Research and Information Services (RIS) Desk Assistance
The Libraries' RIS Desk is staffed 85 hours a week to assist the community with library
use and information gathering. An email reference service, Ask-a-Librarian, is also
available. Questions may be submitted using the online request form.
- Self Help Research Guides
A variety of self-help guides are available on the University Libraries' web site.
- Database Training
