Conducting and Large Ensembles
The Conducting and Large Ensembles area serves the needs of all students in the School. All undergraduate music students are required by the National Association of Schools of Music to participate regularly in ensembles that allow growth in artistry, technical skills, collaborative competence, and knowledge of repertoire. Graduate conducting programs prepare students for careers as professional choral, wind, or orchestra conductors, and serve as enhancement for teachers in secondary and higher education settings.
Faculty in Conducting and Large Ensembles have conducted professional, semi-professional, and college ensembles all over the country and throughout the world. They have also published numerous articles and are regularly invited through professional organizations and others in higher education to serve as conductors, consultants, and clinicians.
Degrees offered in the Conducting area are Master of Music in Conducting (wind, choral, and orchestral) and Doctor of Music in Conducting (wind, choral, and orchestral.)
Degrees offered in Jazz Studies are Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Jazz and Studio Performance, and Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Studio Composition/Arranging.
