About Heather Hampton
Heather Banks Hampton is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating from North Little Rock High School in 1998, she moved to Memphis, TN to attend the University of Memphis. As a student, Heather played clarinet and bass clarinet, and was a member of the Mighty Sound of the South Marching Band and Symphonic Band. Building on her family's roots in gospel music, she also sang for many years with the UofM Gospel Choir and, at that time, the newly formed Collegiate Choir. She graduated May 2005 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Industry Studies (Recording Technology).
Heather's love for the UofM spilled over from music studies to working with students as an Office Coordinator in the Adult and Commuter Student Services department in the Students Affairs Division. After serving adult, commuter and military students in that capacity for over ten years, she returned to her first "home" in February 2016, joining the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music staff as Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator. As coordinator, she enjoys connecting with students and parents who are beginning their college journeys, helping them navigate the music admissions process. At any moment during the week, you can find her giving tours, meeting with prospective students, advising incoming freshmen music majors or preparing for Audition Days. When she's not working, Heather enjoys shopping, reading couponing blogs, listening to music, and most importantly, spending time with her husband and children.
