About Kevin Sanders
Dr. Kevin Sanders enjoys the variety of a career that blends teacher, entrepreneur,
and professional musician. He joined the faculty of the University of Memphis in
2008 and currently serves as Associate Director of Graduate Studies for the Rudi E.
Scheidt School of Music. He has performed on five continents with some of the world’s
finest orchestras, including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Detroit Symphony,
Macau Orchestra in China, and the Melbourne Symphony in Australia. His students have
been highly successful in national and international competitions and can be heard
on three recording albums that the University of Memphis Tuba-Euphonium
Ensemble, the Bottom Line, has released since 2014. As a soloist, he has performed with the United States Army Orchestra in Washington D.C. and can be heard on his solo album Long Distance and the 2011 release of Radiant Blues on Mark Records.
Dr. Sanders is also a past board member of the Memphis Youth Symphony and Concerts
International and has
presented clinics at music conferences across the country, including the International Midwest Clinic in Chicago.
In his free time, he juggles his current passion projects - managing the Ultimate Musician’s League, a website that fuses music performance with the stats and competitive fun of fantasy football, with co-founder, Christian Carichner. Dr. Sanders has also authored a play-a-long fundamentals routine for wind and percussionist students entitled The Hollywood Warm-Up.
Dr. Sanders holds degrees from the Interlochen Arts Academy, Indiana University, the Juilliard School,
