Every summer musicians, students and teachers from the region and across the country come to the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music for unique learning experiences. As they work with our faculty and renowned guest artists, they learn new techniques, gain experience, expand their imagination and leave us equipped to succeed. Our programs offer residential and non-residential options.

Summer at the Scheidt

Introducing the all-new Summer at the Scheidt Camp hosted by the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. Our week-long sessions will stretch your creativity, grow your musical skills, and expand your knowledge. You will work with our expert faculty through a combination of masterclasses, lectures, hands-on activities, rehearsals, and performances.  Plus, you can create your own unique experience with our extensive list of electives that lets you try new things, meet new friends and have fun.

Orff Summer Institute

July 11-22, 2022

The institute provides a unique opportunity for Orff-Schulwerk training in the home of BBQ and the blues! The University of Memphis Orff Summer Institute is one of the longest operating Orff Certification Programs in the country. Participants learn to engage their students in joyful music-making and dance, while developing supportive connections with instructors and colleagues in this two-week teacher education course. Our engaging and accomplished faculty and guest artists will make this an educational, inspiring, and transformative experience.
