Parent and Guest Program

We want to involve parents and families in the college experience, and we have designed a program especially for you! This program will familiarize you with the University of Memphis and everything we have to offer. You will have the opportunity to have your questions answered and become acquainted with the campus so you can better appreciate your favorite student's college experience. The parent and family programs are held on the same dates as the student programs but are mainly facilitated in separate sessions.

This casual but informative program will give you the opportunity to:

  • Meet with representative from academic programs
  • Discover the vast array of support services available to students
  • Tour the campus and see where activities take place
  • Meet with currently enrolled students
  • Learn about educational costs
  • Talk with current parents about their experiences

We encourage you to support your favorite freshman by attending this special program!

Option 1: Without residence hall stay - $55 per parent/guest
Includes day one meals, refreshment breaks, parking, and orientation materials.

Opton 2: Including overnight stay in residence hall - $80 per parent/guest
Includes everything covered with option one plus an overnight stay in campus residence hall. Parents and guests are NOT required to stay on campus overnight, but students are. Parents/guests staying on campus will be placed in a separate room from their student and will receive their residence hall key during NSO check-in.

Parents who are coming from out of town that select Option 1 may also choose to stay at the Holiday Inn located on the University of Memphis campus. To check availability and rates call (901) 678-8200. Be sure to ask for the UofM New Student Orientation discount!

1:30-4:15 Student Panel, Living and Dining, Campus Safety
5:00-6:00 Parent Dinner with campus administrators 
6:45-7:30 Optional Campus Tour


9:00-11:30 Health & Wellness, Preparing for Academic Success, Faculty Panel, Financial Aid & Scholarships
11:30-4:00 Academic Advising, Schedule Planning, Registration
12:00 - 3:30 Optional One:One Financial Aid & Business Services Financial Planning Appointments 

Students will have various times for advising and registration. Although your student may finish earlier, please be prepared to stay until 4:00 p.m.
