About Alexander Davis

Before coming to the University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing in August 2021, Professor Davis was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Southwest Tennessee Community College. He has also worked as Nursing Faculty at Saint Francis Medical Center School of Nursing in Trenton, New Jersey, before relocating to Memphis, Tennessee.

Dr. Davis exercises a calculated and methodical approach to problem-solving. While independently motivated, he appreciates collective efforts and collaborates productively within group settings. Dr. Davis provides expertise in designing and implementing active learner-driven strategies in nursing education in areas of curriculum development, improvement, and assessment with a focus on technology-enhanced education and program outcomes assessment. He also incorporates High Impact Practices and Innovation (HIPI) activities into educational activities.

He has 40 years of experience in psychiatric-mental health and intellectual disability client care. His expertise ranges from a Human Services Assistant to a Quality Assurance Specialist Nurse Investigator with the State of New Jersey Department of Human Services. Although Dr. Davis is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse, he has worked in various nursing settings. He has also taught a variety of nursing content, such as endocrine disorders, neurological disorders, immunologic disorders, oncological disorders, end-of-life, pediatric genetic disorders, and pediatric gastrointestinal disorders.
