About Samantha Calhoun

At the Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) Samantha Calhoun is a clinical assistant professor who primarily teaches the pre-licensure traditional BSN tracks and coordinates clinical learning for pre-licensure adult health students. Prior to her academic appointment in 2018, Samantha worked as an RN in the cardiovascular progressive care settings of private and public hospitals in the mid-South. Her nursing specialties area adult health, cardiology, chronic disease and underserved populations.

Samantha is also a nursing Ph.D. candidate. Her dissertation research examines patient-clinician communication among African American men with hypertension in the Mid-South region of the United States. Her research goals are to build on her dissertation research and develop and test an intervention that can be used in routine care for underserved groups with hypertension.
