Graduate Assistant (GA) Positions – Fall 2021
For Fall 2021, the Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) is seeking applicants to support the ongoing research, academic and administrative needs of nursing faculty and staff through the following positions: Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Administrative Assistant.
Graduate Administrative Assistant
The primary function of a Graduate Administrative Assistant is to assist with College-related projects. Duties may involve entering computer data, maintaining records, preparing reports and surveys, and interpreting and correlating administrative data.
Essential functions include:
- Creating and working with Office PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Attending and taking minutes during faculty committee meetings.
- Assisting with special projects, events or programs.
As a Graduate Administrative Assistant, the individual should have excellent communication skills and a positive customer service attitude to interact with students, faculty, administrators, alumni and visitors.
Graduate Research Assistant
The primary function of a Graduate Research Assistant is to assist a faculty member with her/his scholarly activities. Duties may involve locating, reading, and summarizing pertinent research articles; assisting with preparation of manuscripts, presentations, grant applications and IRB submissions; and calculating and analyzing results of research.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating weekly progress reports related to project assignments.
- Performing data analysis including Cronbach’s Alpha, linear regression, etc.
- Designing databases and entering data using Excel and SPSS.
For the Graduate Research Assistant role, LCON is especially interested in individuals with experience in survey research design, data analysis and statistical software applications (SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc.)
Compensation and academic credit
The hourly pay rate for all Graduate Assistants (GA) is set per the Dean. Part-time GAs are scheduled to work for 10 hours per week and receive a 50% tuition waiver for an enrolled maximum of 9 credit hours per semester. Full-time GAs are scheduled for 20 hours per week and receive a 100% tuition waiver for an enrolled maximum of 9 credit hours per semester.
