Heather Ayers (May '19), Methodist North Hospital
Graduate of the Executive Leaderhip MSN program (May '19) and part-time faculty at the Loewenberg College of Nursing, Heather Ayers was recently promoted to Administrative Director in Nursing of Peri-Operative and Cardiovascular Services at Methodist North Hospital.
"As Administrative Director of Nursing with oversight of Perioperative and cardiovascular services, I am responsible for the teams working to reach strategic goals of patient experience, quality and finance. I am extremely fortunate to have exceptional nurse leaders already in place to assist in providing exceptional care to our patients. Methodist North achieved Magnet® recognition in October 2019, and I am honored to be a nursing leader in such an amazing organization. I wouldn’t have been given this opportunity had it not been for the education I received through LCON. The Executive Leadership program has prepared me with knowledge and experiences I could not have obtained anywhere else."
Ayers, who was honored with the Graduate Student Leadership Award during the University of Memphis Honors Awards ceremony, paid it forward to future nursing leaders by becoming an adjunct faculty member and an LCON convocation graduate speaker. She is currently teaching Health Care Finance in the Executive Leadership MSN (EMSN) program, using her practice expertise leading the clinical areas with the largest inpatient budgets in her hospital. She precepts in the EMSN, serves as a judge for our Research Forum (and the virtual version this summer MSN e-Research Forum) and as a panelist discussing finance with our N5 students.
