About Bruce Harber
Bruce Harber has been with the University since January 2000 and currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer. During his tenure with the University, he has also served as the Assistant Vice President for Administration and as the Director of Public Safety & Chief of Police. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree in Police Administration. He also received a Master's degree in Strategic Leadership from the University and is a graduate of the FBI's National Academy (190th Session).
Bruce has had an extensive career in the areas of leadership, police services, and overall public safety and has been recognized as the recipient of many awards throughout his career. At the University of Memphis he received the Distinguished Alumni Award - J. Millard Smith Illustrious Service to the Association Award as well as the Allen J. Hammond Presidential Service Award as special recognition for significant service to the University. He has also been recognized by the Northeast Memphis Optimist Club by receiving the Respect for Law Citizen of the Year Award, and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society for Academic Excellence in 1991.
