University of Memphis Percussion Ensemble Festival
April 20, 2024
The 5th Annual Percussion Ensemble Festival presents an exciting and enriching event
for high school percussionists and enthusiasts. Bringing together talented individuals
and esteemed professionals to celebrate percussion music and provide educational opportunities,
the festival features high school solo and ensemble performances.
During the Percussion Ensemble Festival, the participating percussion ensembles can
work closely with guest clinicians in a masterclass setting. This format allows the
ensembles to receive personalized feedback, guidance and instruction from these experienced
percussionists. In addition, the clinicians and Dr. Bill Shaltis, assistant professor
of percussion, will share their expertise, offer tips and advice, and discuss important
topics related to percussion performance.
The event culminates with a special University of Memphis Percussion Group concert
in the Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center.
