Reporting Fraud, Waste or Abuse of University Resources
Dear Faculty and Staff:
As employees of the University of Memphis, we all share a responsibility to ensure our resources are properly managed and safeguarded against inappropriate use. In addition, as a research university, it is important that all research is conducted in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
To fulfill this responsibility, it is important for everyone to be informed about what they should do in the event they become aware of, or suspect, an activity that may fall within the purview of University policy, "Reporting Fraud, Waste, or Abuse of University Resources" (UM1640). There are a variety of secure and private options available for anyone to report such activity, and reports can be made anonymously. Unless there is a valid concern for not doing so, employees should first go to their supervisor or department management before reporting to Internal Audit.
The policy (UM1640) can be found online at Reporting Fraud, Waste, or Abuse of University Resources. If you have questions about the policy or process, please contact Vicki Deaton, Interim Chief Audit Executive, at 901-678-2125 or email@example.com.
