Food Services Partner Selection

After careful consideration, the Dining Services RFP Committee has selected Chartwells as the food services partner for the University of Memphis campuses. An intent to award letter has been sent to Chartwells, and the University has begun the process to draft an agreement that is acceptable to both parties based on the RFP and RFP Response. The proposed agreement will be 15 years in length and will include guaranteed commissions, a signing bonus, rebate sharing, repairs and maintenance, capital investments, capital innovation funds, transition and startup costs, annual in-kind funds, and financial support for dietitians and internships.
The selection was made based on a number of evaluating factors including:

- Technical Approach
- Cost Proposal
Chartwells was highly ranked in every area above, and its programming solution for the University will serve our campus community well over the next 15 years. Dining areas will be refreshed and rebranded, menus will be upgraded, diversity spending for locally owned suppliers will be a major focus and our Park Avenue and Lambuth campuses will get additional needed attention and service.
It is expected that Chartwells will begin all dining and catering operations management the first week in August 2019.
