The Pinch, the award-winning literary journal of the University of Memphis, is celebrating the release of its spring 2010 issue, which will soon hit bookstores internationally. The Pinch Release Party will be held Saturday, March 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wright Carriage House, 688 Jefferson. The event is free and open to the public.

Local and national authors, artists, and photographers will attend the evening of literary celebration and refreshments. Contributors such as Sandy Longhorn will read from their work.

The Pinch, formerly called River City, is one of the oldest literary journals in the country. It publishes fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, art, and photography. Sponsored by the University of Memphis and The Hohenberg Foundation, The Pinch is published semi-annually and sponsors a national contest in fiction and poetry each year. The 2010 Pinch Literary Awards will be judged by Allen Wier and Beth Ann Fennelly.

More information on the release party, subscriptions, readings, submissions, and contests is available from Sarah Grace Wilder at The Pinch office at 901-678-4591 or online at
